Sparta Loyalty has delivered a virtual gift card system for the SFD brand. The new solution, integrated with the online store and mobile app, aims not only to simplify the purchasing process but also to optimize returns across the brand’s entire ecosystem.
The implementation features a fully virtual gift card model. The shift from physical cards to digital codes aligns with both eco-friendly trends and the expectations of consumers who prefer fast, instant shopping solutions.
– SFD originated as an online discussion forum, so digital DNA is deeply rooted in our history. Our customers are active people looking for specific, quick solutions – both during workouts and while shopping. The introduction of virtual gift cards aligns with their lifestyle and needs,” says Wojciech Siebierański, e-Commerce Manager for Poland at SFD.
The system provided by Sparta Loyalty has been fully integrated with SFD’s e-commerce infrastructure and mobile app. Users can now:
- activate their card in real time,
- make payments via an omnichannel model (website and mobile app),
- check their balance on the go,
- receive refunds directly to their gift card – which, from a business perspective, keeps funds within the brand’s ecosystem.
– The mechanism allowing for refunds to be credited directly to the balance of a virtual gift card is a feature that goes beyond standard customer convenience. For e-commerce, this means a significant optimization of cash flow. Funds that would leave the company in a traditional bank account refund remain within its ecosystem in this model, ensuring that the customer will make another transaction in the future – explains Filip Zajdel, Head of Customer Success at Sparta Loyalty.
The Gift Card Market
SFD’s decision to implement this solution aligns with global market trends. Data from the “Prepaid Card Market” report, prepared by Allied Market Research, shows that the prepaid card market is growing rapidly – the global value of this segment is projected to reach $5.8 trillion by 2033.
Contributing to the market’s growth are: the increasing use of smartphones, digitalization, the expansion of e-commerce, and contactless payments. These factors enable the immediate delivery of gifts, which enhances consumer convenience and streamlines companies’ business strategies.
- Digitization – virtual gift cards (e-gift cards) are experiencing the fastest growth rate thanks to their easy distribution and immediate availability.
- Sales uplift – customers using gift cards spend, on average, 20–30% more than the card’s face value, which directly increases the value of the shopping cart.
